3. Negroni Sbagliato
The Negroni Sbagliato can be traced back to Milan's Bar Basso, when a bartender mistakenly added sparkling wine to a Negroni in place of gin.The name itself translates to “wrong Negroni,” but the drink was so good, that it took hold and has stuck around ever since. Similar to the also-bubbly Americano, which opts for sparkling water instead of wine, the Negroni Sbagliato is a light and refreshing cocktail that pairs perfectly with sunny afternoons.

This Sparkling Negroni recipe is a lighter take on the classic Negroni. Instead of the 1:1:1 formula of Gin, Campari & Vermouth - we've swapped Aperol for Campari, changed up the proportions, and added some bubbles.

1 oz Aperol
.5 oz sweet vermouth
sparkling water (to top)
2-inch grapefruit peel
1. In a mixing glass, stir gin, Aperol, and sweet vermouth with ice until cold. Strain into a rocks glass with a large ice cube, and top with sparkling water. Express the oils from the grapefruit peel and garnish.

One of my favorite winter cocktails is the negroni. It’s got plenty of flavor, from the bitter Campari, the sweet vermouth, and of course, a kick from the gin. I like to use a dry gin in my negronis so that the Campari, my favorite part of the drink, can come through. Add a little bubbly to this classic cocktail for a seasonal spritzer that is sure to put you in the holiday spirit!
