1. Rita's Sweet Holiday Baked Ham
This holiday ham recipe is great for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or any special meal. It's an easy recipe to try any time of year with tasty ingredients.
|1 cup maple syrup|
|1 cup orange juice|
|1 cup ginger ale|
|0.5 cup brown sugar|
|0.5 cup honey|
|1 (10 ounce) jar maraschino cherries, halved|
|1 (12 pound) fully-cooked, bone-in ham|
|large heat-resistant nylon oven bag (such as Reynolds® Oven Bags)|
|1 (15.25 ounce) can pineapple slices in juice, drained|
|1 box round wooden toothpicks|
|1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).|
|2. Mix together maple syrup, orange juice, ginger ale, brown sugar, and honey in a medium bowl. Stir in juice from the maraschino cherries, and half of the cherries.|
|3. Score the outer edge of the ham with a sharp knife in a diamond pattern. Cuts should be about 1/4 inch deep to allow the ham to soak up the juice.|
|4. Place ham into an oven bag, and carefully pour the juice mixture over it, keeping all of the juice in the bag (it may look like there is too much juice, but the ham will soak it up while baking).|
|5. Place pineapples onto the top of the ham, and secure with toothpicks. Place cherries into the centers of the rings, and secure with toothpicks also. Tie the end of the bag closed with the ties provided, place in a large roasting pan, and cut a few small slits in the top of the oven bag.|
|6. Bake ham for 2 hours in the preheated oven. The internal temperature should be 140 degrees F (60 degrees C) when done. Be sure not to touch the bone when taking the temperature.|
|7. Remove ham from bag to a serving plate, and let stand for 10 minutes before carving.|

|5. Optional: Score the surface of your ham with shallow diamond-shape cuts. It adds a decorative edge and also ensures the outer coating of fat crisps to a rich golden brown when baked.|

|1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (163 C). Then make room in your oven to fit your roasting pan.|
|2. Remove the ham from its package and give it a quick rinse. Next, lay it down in a large roasting pan with its flat-side down.|
|3. Juice 1 navel orange and pour the juice over the ham.|
|4. Slice the other navel orange into wedges, and surround the ham with the orange wedges.|
|5. Using a spatula, spread the brown sugar & spices ham glaze all over the ham, as if you are frosting a cake, and spread as much of the glaze as needed.|
|6. BAKE, uncovered for only 10 to 12 minutes per pound.|
|7. Remove from oven and transfer to a cutting board or serving platter. Spoon over the ham with any remaining juices and glaze from the roasting pan.|

4. Brown Sugar Maple Glazed Spiral Ham
An easy and delicious spiral sliced ham with a sugary glaze.
|1 (6- to 7-pound) ham (fully cooked, spiral sliced)|
|1 cup brown sugar|
|1/2 cup maple syrup|
|3 tablespoons Dijon mustard|
|2 cloves garlic (minced)|
|1/4 teaspoon cloves (ground)|
|1/3 teaspoon allspice|
|pineapple bits (optional)|
|1. Preheat oven to 275 degrees.|
|2. Place ham on a baking dish.|
|3. Pour half of the glaze (see recipe below) over ham and in between the spiral slices.|
|4. Cover ham snugly with foil.|
|5. Heat for 1.5 to 2 hours (2 hours for larger ham)|
|6. Open foil or bag and roll down to expose ham.|
|7. Baste ham with remaining glaze.|
|8. Increase oven temp to 350 degrees.|
|9. Put ham, uncovered, into oven.|

|13. Place brown sugar, maple syrup, and spices in small saucepan.|
|14. Heat on medium-low until sugar dissolves.|
|15. Remove glaze from heat.|
|16. Remove 1/2 cup of glaze and set aside (for basting at the end).|
