Slow Cooker Green Bean Casserole

Slow Cooker Green Bean Casserole made from scratch with fresh or frozen beans, a homemade cream sauce (no cream soup!), cheese, and topped with French’s French Fried Onions. This is the best Green Bean Casserole!

INGREDIENTS

2 pounds fresh green beans or frozen french cut green beans
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
6 tablespoons flour
1 cup chicken broth
1 cup milk
1/2 cup half and half
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground thyme
8 ounces fresh mushrooms, cleaned, stems removed, and sliced
1 cup parmesan cheese, finely grated (optional)
6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled (optional)
1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
1 tablespoon butter
1 1/2 cups French’s French Fried Onions, divided
